Spring is in the air ...

Spring is in the air, the snow has gone, the archipelago is winking to be explored again.

I cannot wait to get the boat up and running again (after the ice experiment this winter) and have been looking to use foursquare or gowalla to create some exploration lists in the archipelago and do some geo-caching on distant islands.

Not sure if there is already a "game" running in the archipelago ?

Anyway, we maybe able to connect during this summer outthere on the water, by boat or by bike, and change our φ.λ into venues or spots.

To Do ...

On our way to do some heavy shopping we bumped into a new "krog" we need to explore ...

Abbor Krogen in ... yeah you guessed it right ... Abborkroken :-)

Coordinates noted and added to the "To Do" List.

5 Knots ... max

With over 30.000 island (ranging from just a rock to fullblow landmasses) in the Stockholm Archipelago, it seems obvious that there is also a wide range of small canals and passageways in between the different islands.

Some of these are well known, highly visable and a must see like stromma canal (part of our all time favorite canal tours), others are hidden just outside the more "normal" routes, waiting to be discovered ...

Here is one, just outside Svartsö

And just a few islands further you have two more beauties ...

Icecream on Fjäderholmarna

The middle of the summer on a rainy day ... when coming back from a quick visit to Stockholm ... Fjäderholmarna is worth a quick stop.

I really like this little island group just outside the city, especially in the spring or late autumn when it is not that crowded and flooded with tourists, but since it was rainy, both me and Wivi were in for a good cup of coffee and since the kidz would surely like some icecream, we wanted to give Fjäderholmarna a try even in high season ...

So after docking the boat in the Guest Harbour we took a stroll to the ice cream house just behind the "rokerie" and had some great coffee and ice with the Sisters Degen

Svartsö Krogen

An ideal place to go for lunch or even dinner is Svartsö Krog, as I mentioned earlier.

It is on our all time favorites and since it just changed owners this year, there has surely been a variety in the menu.

I promise I will come back with a more detailed indepth review of this lovely restaurant in the middle of the Skärgård on Svartsö before the end of the summer, but taking a leap of faith here it is really a recommendation.

If you have your own boat, there is a private dock straight in front of the restaurant, so you are all settled (don't forget an anchor).

Offcourse you can also reach Svartsö with the Cinderella Boats (more on that later on) so your own boat is not a prerequisite.

Right now just to get things going, and before the indepth review.

Another great BBQ place ...

We had the great pleasure to meet Eva and Pelle just outside Moija for a BBQ on the cliffs when they were sailing.
A wonderfull boat trip, a relaxing dinner on the rocks, what else does one need in summer ?
